They do give you 6 custom mappings for all the controls though. The Arturia is enticing since it has more knobs and faders than the Launchkey but the pads seem limiting only eight, not even a second bank. The promise of one single place to manage all your plugins does seem pretty cool. I downloaded the free version and got it partially working, I wasn't able to have it manage any of my existing plugins. The Komplete Kontrol someware seems pretty cool. Can they do other things? And there are no other controls. The Komplete Kontrol's knobs are tied to Komplete Kontrol or Ableton's device settings. Once I borowed the Launchkey MkII I suddenly see what a difference it is having a controller versus a regular keyboard with a USB connection. The new Launchkey MkIII has four custom modes for each of the controls. Also, I believe people say the Komplete Kontrol has better keys than the other two, semi-weighted, but it has no knobs or faders. The one thing I don't like about the Launchey MkIII is the encoders are not endless, while the Arturia and the Komplete Kontrol are endless encoders. The keys on it are pretty good though, better than the Launchkey MkII for piano. I also have a Casio WK500 keyboard with a USB MIDI connection, but it's not a controller. The pads are very expressive for both drums and notes/chords. And when I do it's mostly me jamming on guitar with the magic drummer. My primary DAW is Ableton, every once is a while I'm mess with Garageband, but pretty rarely. I'm leaning towards the Launchkey, but I want to make sure I'm not overlooking something. So I'm looking at these three controllers:
